Guitarist, teacher and chamber musician Jack Sanders will present a concert at 2 p.m. Thursday, sponsored by the Piatigorsky Foundation at the W.

T. Bland Library, 1995 N. Donnelly St.

in Mount Dora. Sanders has performed at the Sitka Summer Music Festival in Alaska, Kapalua Music Festival in Hawaii and Arrowhead Bach Festival, along with solo appearances with many orchestras. The concert is free, but tickets are required.

Tickets will be limited to four per person and must be picked up during usual hours at the library's circulation desk. Sanders builds classical and flamenco guitars, as well as historic reproduction of viheulas, baroque guitars and 19th century instruments. The Piatigorsky Foundation, a nonprofit organization in New York City, presents concerts around the nation, "often in places where people would otherwise not have the opportunity to attend such performances," according to the foundation's Web site.

The Friends of the Mount Dora Music Festival will sponsor a reception afterward to give concertgoers a chance to meet the artist, said Stephanie Haimes, festival president. The Tavares African American Heritage Organization is planning its third annual Heritage Festival for Feb. 3 at Wooton Park.

Vendors are needed to participate. The purpose of the festival is to provide cultural, educational, religious, civic and charitable contributions to the community. The organizers and the Historical Society of Tavares will sponsor the second annual Heritage Luncheon on Presidents Day at noon Feb.

Guy Saint-Clair will offer a musical background and a few musical excerpts from the upcoming concert "Waltz A'Wassailing" at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at the W.

, Mount Dora. Afterward, light refreshments will be sponsored by the Friends of the Mount Dora Music Festival. The "Waltz A'Wassailing" concert will be performed at 3 p.

m. Sunday by the Florida Lakes Symphony Orchestra, a 57-member orchestra directed by Michael J. Garasi, with Saint-Clair as the featured soloist.

This performance will be at the Mount Dora Community Building, 520 Baker St. For tickets, call the orchestra at 352-429-4650. The Harris Chain Sail and Power Squadron will conduct a one-day Boat Smart safety course starting at 9 a.

m. Saturday at the Leesburg Cultural Arts Center at Venetian Gardens, at Dixie Avenue and Dozier Circle. For information or to reserve a seat, call Mike Wedge at 352-989-3943.

8. The North Lake Civil War Roundtable group will meet at 7:30 p.m.

Thursday at the Tavares Civic Center, 100 E. Caroline St. William Morgan will talk about his latest book, Like the Cats of Kilkenny.
