Continuing on the theme of the current Scorpio alignment, I have been taking a look to see when these planets last lined up. The nearest date that I can discern is Nov 11, 1910 thru to Nov 19th 1910 when the Sun, Mercury, Venus, Mars and Jupiter all occupied the sign of Scorpio (with Saturn in the fixed sign of Taurus). The Moon didn't cycle into the stellium as Mercury 'broke loose' of the line up by 19th November.
What this means is that 24th October 2006 was an astrologically historic day, in terms of an alignment in the fixed water sign of Scorpio over the entire last century. All 7 traditional planets occupied fixed signs on the 24th, there were 6 planets in Scorpio on that day with 5 remaining there until 17 November 2006.
Although nothing of worldwide significance appears to have taken place on the 24th, undoubtedly something did.
In the last line up in 1910 it may have been seen as any ordinary month but we witnessed the first flight from a warship i.e. the start of aircraft carriers and 'Black Friday' in the UK was the turning point in Women being given the right to vote.
It is the nature of Scorpio for things to remain hidden and then to erupt suddenly to the surface. Something or someone came (or will come) into manifestation on the 24th (or during the continuing alignment) whose impact will become apparent in days, weeks and months and even years to come. We must watch and see what events unfold, as per my observations from previous stellium posts.
( and previous post). With regard to my observations on the fixity of the stellium in that previous post it is interesting to see that George Bush is being intransigent about the withdrawal of troops from Iraq - against all advice. This may indeed have been a decision he took behind closed doors on the 24th but only reported on later.
I have a few other things to add on this stellium. The sign of Scorpio is inextricably linked to Mining (and all forms of excavation and archaeology). I note that the subject of mining has been hitting headlines this week - stocks, mergers, acquisitions etc.
The sign of Scorpio also correlates the countries, Brazil and Morocco and to some extent, Germany.
Brazilian mining giant Companhia Vale do Rio Doc announced on the 24th that it is acquiring Canadian mining company Inco. Morocco and Germany are intertwined in news reports today over CIA documents and Morocco is also likely to become very newsworthy- not least once the film Babel is on general release.
On checking back through the history books there are a few other points of interest that I have noted: as one might expect with a line up of planets in the water sign of Scorpio, stelliums in this sign invariably coincide historically with reports of severe flooding and even 'tidal waves' of water.
There is also a definite link to Russia and already the headlines are reflecting that. One other tit-bit caught my eye.
When Venus, Mars and Jupiter occupied the sign of Scorpio in 1970, Paul McCartney (now Sir Paul) was in Court seeking to dissolve 'The Beatles Co'. Paul McCartney has a Mars/Pluto conjunction (Leo), both planets being co-rulers of the sign Scorpio. The Scorpio planets trigger his natal line-up and we can expect more explosive legal wranglings and secrets emerging on that front in coming weeks and months.
Are we set to have our view and opinion of this icon transformed forever?
Finally, let me just respond to some comments in the blogosphere that I tend to sit on the fence with my forecasting of what these Scorpio alignments presage. As have said many times I do not see astrology as being capable of predictions of precise events in the mundane world or personal arena .
I do think it can be used to great effect as a tool for trend analysis and extrapolation i.e., if x happened each time y was in a sign then chances are there's a pattern repeating.
Astrology is like forecasting the weather - under certain conditions the likelihood of rain is high in this area, so best take an umbrella.
My site is called Collaborate with Fate because if I alert readers to prevailing trends then decisions can be made that can allow each of us to get into resonance with them, rather than aligning our intentions discordantly. There is undoubtedly a perfect order to the Universe.
We are inexorably travelling from A-B but the side roads we take to get there are determined by each of us. We are all a part of a greater 'whole'.
A Scorpio alignment can indeed portend dark times and bring a whole load of muck to the surface but if one sees each event as an opportunity for reflection and transformation and we all consciously align (resonate) with the path of right intention towards love, respect and tolerance of our fellow inhabitants of this Planet then we'll have an easier ride.
This is not new agey, psycho-babble but recognition of the obvious reason why we are here - to learn, to love and to recognise our connectivity to the all.
As I said before if George W Bush appreciated the value of the 'As above, So below' Hermetic doctrine, he would know this was not a time to be intransigent if he wants accord rather then discord. The problem as I see it is that we hand Presidents and Prime Ministers the power to alter the route we are all travelling.
It becomes us and them rather than them working with and for us. However, if each of us takes personal responsibility for where we are, what we are doing, saying and believing we will eventually force a tipping point where we can take back the balance of power and have a true democracy. We may always need leaders but we don't ever need autocrats.
If we stay attuned to the correspondences of astrology - the 'Music of the Spheres' - we'll be collaborating in travelling a road that is more loving, peaceful and harmonious. Unfortunately, that road is still the one less travelled and it may take a plethora of planets in Scorpio to alert us to what now needs changing.
I don't get a chance to update that site as regularly as I would like but one post I made recently has been getting a lot of attention. So, for those readers who prefer to visit the 'Collaborate' site for esoteric articles this might be a detour of interest.
