You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll hum along. In honor of its 75th anniversary, every Tuesday between Jan. 16 and Feb.
27, the Paramount Theater in downtown Aurora will be showing classic films for the classic price of just 75 cents. All movies will start at 7:30 p.m.
in the theater at 23 E. Galena Blvd. "It's fun to see these old movies that you grew up with on the big screen," said Kathy Gustafson, marketing director for the Paramount.
On Jan. 16, the theater will start the shows with Yankee Doodle Dandy, the black-and-white patriotic musical biography of George M. Cohan, starring James Cagney.
Then on Jan. 23, the Paramount will follow up with another musical, Singin' in the Rain, starring Gene Kelly, Debbie Reynolds and Donald O'Connor in a film about the first talking motion pictures. On Jan.
30, the theater will shift from musical to comedy with a showing of the original 1963 version of The Pink Panther, starring Peter Sellers, David Niven and Robert Wagner. On Feb. 6, the Griswolds will visit the Paramount with a screening of National Lampoon's Vacation, starring Chevy Chase and Beverly D'Angelo as the well-intentioned parents taking the family to Wally World in a station wagon.
Then, on Feb. 13, audiences can enjoy 1939's Gone With the Wind, starring Clark Gable, Vivien Leigh and Olivia de Havilland in the sweeping Civil War epic. At almost four hours, you'll be home just in time for Valentine's Day.
Then, in a sharp turn in tone, on Feb. 20 the Paramount will show Stripes, the Bill Murray and Harold Ramis comedy about a group of soldiers training to fight the communists. Finally, on Feb.
27, the legendary golfing comedy Caddyshack, starring Rodney Dangerfield, Chevy Chase, Bill Murray and Ted Knight, will be shown on the big screen.
