Chennai: If you have been Chennai in December, chances are that you have heard a lot of Carnatic music at the December Festival held there.
However, this year, music lovers in the city got a chance to break away from that trend through a concert organised at Kamarajar auditorium.
The band Remember Shakti that embraces the best of western and eastern music played in the concert.
The five members of the band made fusion music hard to resist as Ustad Zakir Hussain and Selvaganesh gave the beats, Mandolin Srinivas plucked on his strings, and John McLaughlin and Shankar Mahadevan added the vocals.
For Mahadevan, who's recently joined the band, the experience was overwhelming.
"It's a wonderful form of music and an eye-opener for many who have not heard of this kind of music.
