Detroit Lions defensive tackle Shaun Rogers has been suspended four games for violating the NFL's substance-abuse policy.
According to a report Wednesday in the Detroit Free Press, the banned substance came from an appetite suppressant Rogers was taking to help monitor his weight, which is listed at 340 pounds.
"It was a combination of things that led him to going through this process," said Kennard McGuire, Rogers' agent.
"He wanted to make sure that he kept his weight and everything under control. He took an over-the-counter GNC supplement that he was really unaware was one of the forbidden substances."
Rogers has also been dealing with knee troubles this season.
He will not be eligible to play until the Lions' tilt with Miami on Thanksgiving Day in the U.S.
McGuire told the paper that there would be no appeal of the ruling.
