BT said it would offer a set-top box worth 199 free of charge for users signing up for the service.
BT also announced a significant win in its sports offering which will, beginning next year, allow it to broadcast live Premiership football matches, following an agreement with Irish sports channel, Setanta. The Irish firm owns a third of the broadcast rights to the English Premiership starting 2007.
Other deals include one with Warner Bros. which will give Vision customers access to new Warner releases including 'Superman Returns', as well as the 'Harry Potter' series. EMI is also a partner on Vision and BT has secured rights to promotional videos from the likes of Coldplay, Lilly Allen and Kylie Minogue.
An on-demand film will cost a maximum of 2.99 according to BT and all paid-for content will be piped into customers' homes over broadband. BT's retail chief executive, Ian Livingston, said: "BT Vision is all about giving control to the viewer - control over what they watch, when they watch it and how they pay for it.
BT Vision is ideal for people who want more choice than Freeview delivers but who want that extra choice without being tied to a pricey, long-term subscription."

I think that BT has been a tad optimistic in its expectations. 3 million users in how long?
A year? No way. 2 Years?
I doubt it! 2.99 per film seems expensive, particularly as the viewing quality MAY not be up to what viewers are used to.
Until we see high speed data ( 24Mbits for example) IPTV will just remain a pipe dream as quality of service will be its downfall.
