ALTHOUGH originally booking until July 22, 2006, the Watermill Theatre s revival of Mack and Mabel will now close three weeks earlier on July 1, 2006.
As yet, no further productions have been announced for the Criterion Theatre.
Previously Posted: Following a successful UK tour, the Watermill Theatre s revival of Mack and Mabel will open at the West End s Criterion Theatre on April 10, 2006 (previews from April 5); and is initially booking to July 22, 2006.

It will star Olivier Award winner Janie Dee and actor/singer David Soul in the heart-wrenching love story of two of Hollywood s greatest legends from the Silent Movie era.
When Mabel comedienne Mabel Normand arrives on Mack s set director Mack Sennett, the so-called King of Comedy and creator of the Keystone Cops she catches his eye and, in no time at all, captures his heart.
Before long, she s starring in Sennett s two-reelers and together, they bring magic to the silver screen.

The relationship, however, is stormy, with romance turning to jealousy, and stardom foreshadowing scandal and heartbreak. Yet despite the odds, they can never escape their love for each other.
The score includes Look What Happened to Mabel, I Won t Send Roses, Time Heals Everything, Hundreds of Girls and Tap Your Troubles Away.

Mack and Mabel premiered on Broadway in 1974 and starred Robert Preston and Bernadette Peters. It was later seen in London s West End at the Piccadilly Theatre in 1995.
And in 1984, ice-skaters Torvill and Dean won the Olympic gold medal when they performed to the overture from the original cast album.

Soul, who appeared in the Watermill s revival which first played in Newbury last summer, has been described by Jerry Herman, the musical s composer, as the best Mack I ve ever seen.
He will, of course, always be remembered as the blond half of the dynamic duo, Starsky and Hutch although his West End theatre credits include Jerry Springer The Opera (Cambridge Theatre), Comic Potential (Lyric Theatre) and Dead Monkey (Whitehall Theatre).
Dee s many musical credits include Cats, Carousel (for which she won her first Olivier), My One and Only, Oklahoma!

, The Sound of Music and South Pacific.
She also starred in Comic Potential, winning the Olivier, Evening Standard and Critics Circle Awards for Best Actress.
Otherwise Engaged recently closed at the Criterion Theatre but no productions have been announced for the interim period.
