As you read this, the "Fab Four" continues to be one of the most popular acts in the world (witness the appearance at the top of the Billboard magazine charts of Love, the soundtrack to the Las Vegas-based Cirque du Soleil extravaganza set to the band's music). For local fans, the latest "next best thing" to seeing the actual group perform is Rain -- The Beatles Experience, which returns to Philadelphia Thursday through Jan. 7 and Jan.
11-14 at the Academy of Music, Broad and Locust streets. Rain is a multi-media presentation that surveys the band's fabled career from its first appearance (on Feb. 9, 1964) on The Ed Sullivan Show to the recording of the landmark Abbey Road album.
All of the music is performed live by the four musicians portraying John, Paul, George and Ringo. Show time is 9 p.m.
