The Burnsville-Eagan-Savage School District will hold its final public information meeting on the levy referendum proposal at 7 tonight at Burnsville High School, 600 Highway 13 E. The school board has also scheduled community listening sessions at 7 p.m.

Wednesday at the Eagan Community Center, 1501 Central Parkway, and on Oct. 30 at Glendale United Methodist Church, 13550 Glendale Road.
Foundation 191 will hold its annual "FUN-raiser" on Thursday at Grande Market Place, 12750 Nicollet Ave.

The American Heart Association has joined forces with the Minnesota Vikings and NFL to promote "What Moves U," a program to encourage kids to become physically active. Vikings football player Steve Hutchinson will visit Black Hawk Middle School in Eagan today from 10 to 10:45 a.m.

Saint Thomas Academy's headmaster Dr. Thomas B. Mich and board chairman Thomas S.

Schreier, Jr. announced John and Patricia Myser as the recipients of the 15th annual "Opus Sancti Thomae" award. The Mysers were recognized for their contributions to the business, civic, church, educational and professional communities.


Highland Park Junior High teacher Ronald Womack was honored this past weekend at Syracuse University in New York for his part in a 1970 racial protest that led to changes at the school, his alma mater.
Womack and eight other Syracuse football players boycotted the 1970 season because of what they said were unfair conditions for black players. Their actions led to the 1970 hiring of Syracuse's first black assistant football coach.

Their work also helped spur other changes on campus, including the establishment of an African-American studies department and cultural center and the hiring of a black administrator to fill a newly created post: provost for minority affairs.
On Friday in Syracuse, the players received Chancellor's Medals, one of the university's highest honors. On Saturday, they received letter jackets during a ceremony at halftime of the Syracuse-Louisville football game.


"The Value of a College Education and the Reality of Paying for It" is a presentation for all parents planning for how to pay for college. Michael Branch, a financial planner from Focus Financial Network Inc., will make this presentation at 7 p.

Parkview Center School in Roseville is accepting kindergarten registrations for the 2007-08 school year. New families with children in grades one through eight should register now to place their child on a wait list. Confirmation of enrollment will be completed by spring of 2007.

Paul has appointed Robert M. DeGregorio as the new dean of its College of Business and Organizational Leadership. DeGregorio was president of Purina Mills and Land O' Lakes Animal Nutrition from 2001 to 2004, and was also executive vice president and chief operating officer for Land O' Lakes Inc.

Students at Presentation of Mary School in Maplewood raised more than $35,000 for the school's Marathon for Non-Public Education fundraiser. Principal John Boone walked the plank into a pool of goo for their efforts.


The North St. Paul-Maplewood-Oakdale School Board's first guided forum tonight is on school security issues. It's from 6:15 to 6:55 p.

m. at the District education Center, 2520 12th Ave. E.

in North St. Paul. A guided forum is a way for the school board to engage the public in a conversation about a specific topic of general interest.

The question tonight is: "Given the recent national attention to school security issues, what can our community and district do to improve security for our students?" The goal of the forum is to learn more about the issue and provide an avenue for board members to listen to the community. The Festival of Cultures will return to the Forest Lake school district this spring.

This free event is designed to celebrate the many cultures of our schools and communities. The district is looking for people or groups who are interested in sharing information on a specific culture or country. Booths may include maps, traditional clothing, crafts, games, samples of food and more.

Musicians and dancers also are welcome. The festival is scheduled for 6 to 9 p.m.

The Forest Lake School Board has changed the date of its November school board meeting to Nov.

9. The board meeting will begin at 7 p.m.

, in Richfield, has scheduled open houses Nov. 1 and Nov. 2 for prospective students and their families.

Each will include school tours, presentations by academic departments, and an academic and activities fair as well as information about the school's personal computer laptop program that will begin in fall 2007 with the ninth-grade class. The open houses are from 6:30 to 8:45 p.m.

Families are encouraged to attend the evening that corresponds with their last name A-K will attend the first night, if possible, and L-Z the second. Reservations are not required. Academy of Holy Angels is a Catholic, coeducational high school educating more than 850 students in grades 9-12.
