Flag: [ ] His new movie looks awful!
Why don't producers remake Casablanca or create a sequel to Passion of the Christ (I'm praying to find out how that story ends). Until then, I guess I'll stay home and watch Entertainment Tonight or Inside Edition. By: bilabong8 on October 24, 2006 at 01:33am
Flag: [ ] Sasha Baron Cohen has a long history of playing unusual characters and duping his unwitting interviewees.
..and he's one funny guy!
See him as Bruno interviewing an expert on Christian music...

A lot of material there. By: bernarda on October 24, 2006 at 03:46am
Flag: [ ] And like a bad penny the little shit Bernarda returns with more fatuous postings. Shouldn't you be out campaigning against circumcision or one of your other pet causes you blustering, humorless twirp?

Flag: [ ] You'd have to be living on Mars not to know who Sacha Baren Cohen is. It would be funnier if he ridiculed those who really deserve it, like politicians, instead of unsuspecting nice people. By: BeamMeUpScotty on October 24, 2006 at 07:57am

Flag: [ ] Jeez and I thought people in the NY Hip art scene and women's rights would have at least read a blog (this one) or glimpsed at MTV so they would at least have a clue, hmm they're just as insular as GWB and his ilk. By: jscott on October 24, 2006 at 08:34am
Flag: [ ] He owes her one?
He should charge her for the art lesson.
She should ditch her used-car salesman mentality and GIVE HIM a sculpture. He did her a favor.

Flag: [ ] Libs love Borat because they relate to the anti-semtic tone of the movie..
.
If Borat spewed nonsense about islam, terrorists, or palestine the lunatic liberal movement would be going nUtS! By: DefaultUser on October 24, 2006 at 10:35am
Flag: [ ] To folks harshing on the lady's comment, you need to RTFA.
She's not seriously asking for anything, just suggesting that he should buy one of her sculptures when he's in New York.
She actually seems to have a good sense of humor about the thing. That is, as good a sense of humor as an over-earnest artiste can muster.
However, that comment about her art being about empowerment and his about humiliation...
well, it may be true, but pointing that kind of thing out is exactly why she's in the movie.
Dear sweet Lord, I need to see this. By: HegemonyCricket on October 24, 2006 at 10:39am
Flag: [ ] Was that your attempt at a troll?
How cute! You, sir/madame, are adorable.
I'm certain some folks, like me, will bite.
..if only to point out how absolutely precious that was.
Most likely though, they'll be attempting to compel you to suck [insert suckable thing you probably have experience with here]. By: HegemonyCricket on October 24, 2006 at 10:46am
Flag: [ ] I'd like to see Borat do the same sort of thing in Palestine. He could interview illegal Jewish settlers in the West Bank and Golan in the same manner.
Then he could go to U.S. and A.
and interview Israel-first lobbyists like Abe Foxman and neo-cons to reveal their hypocrisy and racism. A lot of material there.

Flag: [ ] Ethnic humour can serve as a healing tonic between different worlds but, a jewish man mocking a predominantly muslim nation is racism.
Especially when its transparent in its innate disrespect, for example: borat says kazaks drink camel urine. Its racist and ugly and just not funny.
Albert Brooks is a jewish comedian who made a really funny movie called Looking For Comedy in the Muslim World.
Brooks didnt need to degrade or humiliate or mock (with no satire or irony)an entire people inorder to get a laugh. The point of his film is that by laughing during difficult situations will unite people instead of separating them.
In my opinion, cohen is laughing AT muslims not with them and that is just unkind and will only add more hostility in a world that seems to be teetering on the edge of self-destruction.
What I dont understand is that some bloggers are attacking people as 'anti-semites' because they percieve Borat for what he is: a racist. These absurd attacks as 'jew-haters' because you dont like a movie is absurd to the point of inanity.
I think respectful ethnic humour done with the intent to connect rather than divide and humiliate is desperately needed in these divisive Borat does not meet the threshold of respect and connectivity.

Flag: [ ] It's amazing to think that Linda Stein could not know about the status of women in other parts of the world particularly since there is so much information on the Web.
We have a comic in Canada named Rick Mercer and he had segments on CBC called Talking to Americans in which Americans showed how truly unknowing they are about Canada.
Trouble was that most of Mercer's footage was shot on university campuses and he would also rope in professors and administrators.
Imagine that any American would not know that Canada had FM radio!
Cohen is doing the same and it's going to be uncomfortable for a lot of Americans to be shown in such a light on the big screen.
Please do not bomb the capital of Kazaknstan.
It has been moved in recent years to another location. By: david423 on October 24, 2006 at 12:22pm
Flag: [ ] Will you condemn ALL who use ethic humor to divide and humiliate?
Thus far, I've found that, without exception, those who've condemned Cohen seem to have no problems with non-Jews who engage in ethnic humor.
That is bigotry.
I can only hope that you're an exception to this rule but, as you seem to be defending others (Some of whom have made blatantly bigoted remarks, "sneaky Jew bastard", etc), I suspect that my hope may be in vain By: rand on October 24, 2006 at 12:24pm
Flag: [ ] I wonder if one of the interviewees turned unwilling actor in a commecial comedy movie will sue him based on how he obtained the release forms using misrepresentation. I suspect once you sign the release form without reading the fine print, you are screwed, but a court might consider the amount of chicannery involved so high that it nullifies the signed release.
This guy is just an extension of the jewish propaganda machine that vilifies and mocks - rightfully or wrongfully - muslims and arabs around the clock. By: PetitNicola on October 24, 2006 at 12:26pm
