The Indonesian pop band was reportedly playing to a stadium that was packed to about double its 6,000-person capacity, the BBC reported Wednesday Police said that the stampede of teenagers happened as the nearly 12,000 people were trying to exit the stadium in Pekalongan. The arena only has two narrow exits. Ungu's manager said that tickets for the concert had sold out but denied the stadium overfilled, the BBC said, but police said that the stadium over capacity because thousands of people had entered the stadium without tickets.
At least 10 people either suffocated or trampled to death while three others were in intensive cares and at least 15 others hospitalized because of the crush of people.
