CHELTENHAM, England, Dec. 5 (UPI) -- A Motown tribute band concert was canceled in Britain after the band ended up in the wrong town due to a navigation error.
Viscount Oliver s Legendary Four Tops, a tribute band that performs music created by the original Four Tops, ended up in Chelmsford -- 140 miles from their intended destination, Cheltenham, The Telegraph reported Tuesday.
The U.S. band s tour manager, Alan Frazer, said the mix-up occurred when someone punched the wrong town name into the bus satellite navigation system.
"Whoever tapped the place into the Sat-nav got it wrong. They don t know British geography very well because they re American," he said.
"The driver s been given a severe reprimand because of the error.
"
The approximately 300 fans gathered at Cheltenham Town Hall were sent home and offered refunds.
"Almost everyone has now had a refund and we re seeing if we can make alternative arrangements for a future concert," said Derek Aldridge, manager of the venue.
