For the record, I must say that I am not in any way a fan of 50 Cent, so reading this book was as difficult as watching his movie and listening to his music. I would rather have watched a wrestling match between two Let's just say that 50 Cent is a rapper and that's what he must do - rap! I think there should be a rule that nobody under the age of 29 should have an autobiography written about him unless he is terminally ill.
Such people have not lived enough. Huh? Nothing else?
That's it? He was a small-time dealer when he was young and then went on to bigger things. His mother was a pusher and he followed her example.
She was killed He lived in a home where his uncles and aunts were drug users, but oddly enough his grandmother was very religious and his grandfather was very strict. He grew up and his dealings grew too. Soon after nearly dying because of drugs he met producer Dr Dre who then - yes, you guessed it - made him into the almighty and famous 50 Cent.
of it, was a pimp turned writer called Iceberg Slim, who was born plain Robert Beck. Hip-hop guru Kris Ex helped 50Cent write the book, but they should have sat down and read either Mama Black Widow or Pimp to get a feel for how I don't like gangsta rap and I like gangsta rappers even less because they subject people to their harsh, senseless lyrics, which they put to a great beat, and then the album sells more than four million copies worldwide. But it'll probably be difficult to convince the readers.
There are a few good lines in the book in the same way as there a few good tracks in 50Cent's music. The mean, great gangsta rapper might appeal to his fans, but I wouldn't hold my breath to read the book. Besides, it isn't right to glorify the life of a thug who caused a lot of deaths and ruined many lives.
If I had my way, I wouldn't just shelve this book - I'd feed it to termites.
