After seeing Lupe Fiasco perform in San Francisco, I knew that his album would be an instant classic. Remember the feeling "A Tribe Called Quest" gave you? Well, "Food and Liquor" brings back that "true" hip-hop feel.

"Food and Liquor" has a sound similar to that of Kanye West. They must be putting something in the water in Chi-Town; from Common to Kanye West, high-quality music just keeps coming from the Windy City. Lupe Fiasco keeps the trend going with his debut album Food and Liquor.

Hip-hop needed something innovative, and Food and Liquor brings a fresh new style to the genre. I was bored with most mainstream rap, but now I have a reason to turn on the radio. Lupe Fiasco gives the game a makeover, a much-needed makeover that came at an ideal time.

Kanye West changed the game with College Dropout, and Lupe Fiasco will do the same when people catch on to Food and Liquor. Being the critic that I am, I tried to find a track that I didn't like. Two weeks later, I'm still looking.

Every song brings something new to the table.Whether you're streetwise or a kid from the suburbs, you'll love this album. Food and Liqour is one of the most thought-provoking albums I've ever heard.

On "He Say She Say" Lupe tells the story of what it's like to grow u p without a father. "Startin to use red markers on my work, my teachers say they know I'm much smarter, but I'm hurt, I used to hand my homework in first, like I was the classroom starter, burst of tears let him know he see us, Now I'm fightin in class, got a note last week sayin I might not pass, kids ask me if my daddy sick of us, cuz you ain't never pick me up, you see what my problem is, I don't know where my poppa is, no positive male role model to play football or build railroad models." This song is my favorite on the album.

A smooth R B feel laced with piano, classy horns and Fiasco's story makes this song a hit. This album is packed with classics; my favorites are "He Say She Say," "Daydreamin,""Hurt Me Soul" and "Kick Push." After dissecting the entire album the only song that falls a bit short is "I gotcha.

" It's not that this song isn't good; it's just that every other song is great so it has a lot to live up to. Sixteen tracks and I could only find one that I didn't really enjoy, that's saying a lot. Go pick this album up.

It's timeless. If you purchase the album and don't love it, come find me. I'll reimburse you.
