It was a win for music lovers Tuesday. The state of Texas took on Sony BMG and won.

The attorney general said all Texans who bought Sony music CDs with spyware could be entitled to some money back.



In the past year, Sony has pulled the CDs with spyware off the shelves. They have not been sold in stores for some time, but many who unknowingly bought the music with spyware got an unwelcome surprise.

Millions of CDs, some very popular titles, had XCP Media Max software on them.



XCP was in the fine print. Sony told the consumer it was for copyright protection, but the software would actually track listening habits.
