Celtic - Rangers still tipped for second

Despite growing evidence to the contrary, bookmakers William Hill are still confident that Rangers will finish second in the SPL. Paul Le Guen's jokers, who are currently third in the table and 16-points behind Celtic, face a tricky trip to Pittodrie to face second-placed Aberdeen tomorrow. With the ground sold-out and many neutrals dreaming of the Dons handing out a festive spanking, perhaps the time is right to take advantage of the still-reasonable prices available.

Rangers are priced at 1/4 to finish in second-spot - which, of course, they didn't manage last season - while Aberdeen are at 4/1, Hearts at 7/1, Hibs at 16/1 and Kilmarnock at 25/1. The odds available for Hearts suggest the bookies are covering themselves more than any realistic chance of the Edinburgh side actually finishing that high in the league. The fun and games at Tynecastle are more amusing than the Edinburgh Festival, and currently seems unlikely they will finish above any of the other named teams.

If Rangers do not finish in second-place, it will be interesting to see just how low they can go under Le Guen...
