"When we met Nick, we all liked his youthful, unbridled enthusiasm, but at 36, he was also experienced enough to have a strong background in music and recording," Peart wrote. "We agreed with the comments and suggestions he had for our new songs, and loved his excitement about them, so we signed him up." Though no official release date has been announced, the as-yet-untitled album is expected to reach stores sometime next year.
Remastered versions of Green Day ( )'s first two albums--1991's "1,039/Smoothed Out Slappy Hour" and 1992's "Kerplunk"--will be reissued Jan. 9 by the band's current label, Reprise Records. The albums were originally released by influential Berkeley, CA-based indie label Lookout!
