The Pumpkins' forthcoming LP, which is being produced by Roy Thomas Baker (Queen, The Cars), is slated for release next year.
Mainman Billy Corgan announced the reactivation of the Smashing Pumpkins last year. Aside from himself and Chamberlin, it is unknown whether original guitarist James Iha, original bassist D'Arcy Wretzky or latter-day bass player Melissa Auf der Maur will be involved in the project.
No title has been revealed for the new Pumpkins album, the first since 2000's "MACHINA/The Machines of God". Corgan debuted several new songs at a low-key show with Who guitarist Pete Townshend on November 7 in Los Angeles.

I can only hope they stay true to their grunge roots and maybe even revive the genre! i can't ****ing wait. has anyone heard the new songs?
I doubt that grunge would return, especially considering that most people are happy that Nu-metal is disappearing.
As for the Smashing Pumpkins, they are definitely an awesome band, but one who can change styles. They already had James Iha with his amazing style and the Untitled song before they split was very amazing.
I'm really interested to see just how melodic they can get within the power-jams they do. Corgan and Iha were an amazing duo, but maybe this time around it's not quite what people are thinking..
. I'm more interested in who else is filling the rolls of Bassist or 2nd Guitar. i only hope they will come to canada sometime, anytime.
Man Corgan is a genious, I'm not worried in the least I hope this ends up being good. It would be great if it was equally influenced by their rocking-out type stuff, electronic stuff, and even something new and experimental. this could be great.
definatly a band that i would love to hear some new stuff from. and since Auf der Maur said she would join if D'Arcy doesnt, all we have to worry about is a guitarist. hopefully well be hearing new stuff next year.

As for you good sir, although I'm sure European festicals are amazing, they're also convenient for bands to play, because there's a lot of them really close together, promoters dream.
