From the first time I saw on the schedule of a theatre I believed it to be a biographical movie. I was quite surprised when I got to see it today and found out that it was something quite different. For that reason I chose a different theatrical poster of the movie for this article, than to .

As you can see on the one I used there also is a picture of in the background - which immediately moves the movie into a whole different perspective.

'The Queen' documentates the week between the death of Princess Diana and her funeral. It shows the happenings inside the Royal Family and the way they reacted to her sudden death, aswell as their change of course due the people of England that needed their Queen to make a stand after the death of Diana.

I have to say that I didn't quite remember the quarrel that went down in England through that time and I certainly didn't knew it was that bad. For what I know 'The Queen' is not based upon the real facts that went down in Buckingham Palace, but it contains many real headlines and videos from that time. The movie explains what the Queen must have gone through from her initial cold, yet standard approach of burying Lady Di quietly and under exclusion of the public, to a public burial including a statement to the nation and taking an official stand in front of the whole world.

I was surprised to see 'The Queen' working out quite well, the story was very intresting for me, be it truth or fiction and I thought that delivered a through and though supherb portrayal of Queen Elizabeth II. Of course it always is a bit weird to watch something that looks all like a documentary and in the end still have to doubt much of what went down, but to me it seems very likely that the happenings of this week inside the Royal Family must have been very similar to what this movie shows.
I was glad to see that 'The Queen' beside its political mumbo-jumbo was able to come up with some real feelings, the movie managed to touch me and zoom me right back into the days the world stood still.

I am glad I saw 'The Queen' and I am glad it turned out so suprisingly different than I thought it would.
Would I recommend it? Certainly.

There is more to see here than in the average movie, including a paralysing event and the controversial reactions to it, political background and not to forget supherb acting!
