LONDON - Guitarist Andy Taylor is out of British 1980s band Duran Duran due to an "unworkable gulf" between him and the rest of the band, the New Wave group said on its website Thursday. The remaining four members - singer Simon Le Bon, keyboard player Nick Rhodes, bass guitarist John Taylor and drummer Roger Taylor - confirmed The band enjoyed a string of pop hits in the early 1980s with song such as "Rio", "Girls On Film", "Is There Something I Should Know?" and "A View Duran Duran were due to start the US leg of their tour in Chicago on Wednesday.
A spokesman said that session guitarist Dom Brown, who has played with the band on two previous tours, will fill in during their remaining concert dates in October and November. "We know that there has been a tremendous amount of speculation over the past few weeks regarding Andy Taylor's continued involvement with the band and we are sorry that we've been unable to provide you with more information until now," the band said. "As of last weekend, however, the four of us have dissolved our partnership and will be continuing as Duran Duran without Andy, as we have reached "Although obviously disappointed and saddened about this, we are excited about the next chapter of the Duran Duran story and look forward to seeing you all soon.
