Miss Michelle Philips, alias Mielaiya, a rising star in the United Kingdom music industry, accompanied by Mass Lowe, a prominent Gambian musician, together with her parents yesterday called on President Yahya Jammeh at the State House in Banjul.
Speaking to journalists shortly after her audience with the Gambian leader, Miss Michelle Philips disclosed that she had a discussion with His Excellency to facilitate the staging of a private concert with rising stars in The Gambia.
On her impression of the new musical set bought by President Jammeh, Mielaiya said the set is second to none and it will trigger the coming of many big artistes to The Gambia.

The 21-year old musician said she is currently working on her album to be released in February.

Also speaking to reporters, Mass Lowe congratulated President Jammeh for purchasing the musical set for Gambian artistes. ldquo;The set will boost up the music industry.

I have never seen such a musical set before in my life. This is a clear testimony of President Jammeh rsquo;s effort to help artistes in The Gambia, rdquo; he said.

Mielaiya and entourage received various gifts from President Jammeh during their audience with him.
