WINCHESTER, England, Dec. 20 (UPI) -- The father of director Guy Ritchie says his son s marriage to Madonna is in disarray over the U.S.
pop star s desire to adopt another child.
The Daily Mail reported John Richie admitted the "Vogue" singer s plans to adopt another African child has placed the nearly six-year marriage is serious jeopardy.
Back in October, the celebrity couple was thrust into the public spotlight after they adopted a baby boy named David Banda from the African country of Malawi, the same location Madonna is considering as the locale for the second adoption.
"They ve had a difficult time. (David) is beautiful and Guy is very good with him. But I don t think he d want to (adopt again)," the elder Richie said.
"They were both under an unbelievable amount of pressure because of all the press surrounding (David s) adoption. It has caused tension and been deeply upsetting," he added.
The paper said other sources have confirmed the couple, who also have a 10-year-old daughter and a 6-year-old son, has been split over the proposed family expansion.
