Jackson, 48, wasn't even planning to sing at the party, tickets to which the BBC said cost 400,000 yen ($3,338). The event has been rescheduled to March 8 as a fan-appreciation, although the performances will be limited to dancers gyrating to recorded music. The BBC said Jackson's first public appearance since the trial occurred in London last month.
Jackson sang just a few lines, although the audience had expected a full medley of his hits.
