House of Assembly insisting on removing Governor Peter Obi and his deputy, Mrs. Virgy Etiaba, sat on Friday on four motions, one of which condemned the purported impeachment of the Speaker and suspension of the principal officers of the House by 10 members at the Government House, Awka on Thursday.
The motion which was raised by the Majority Leader, Hon.
Humphrey Nsofor, and supportd by Hon O. C Chinwuba, said the sitting of members at the Government House was illegal, because six out of the 10 members that sat were suspended members and could not convey or sit for any meeting of the House.
Also not conveying the sitting at the House of Assembly, made it not acceptable and further added that, the only four members in attendance at the meeting would face disciplinary action for contravening the constitutional provisions on the House of Assembly procedure.
Another motion raised was that the former Clerk of the House, Dr A.G Ikwuka suspended by Governor Obi remained the Clerk of the house while the new Clerk, Frank Onyenwuzo, sent by the governor to replace Ikwuka goes back to his base.
The motion asked Governor Obi to stop contravening the 1999 constitution by usurping the duties of the members of the House of Assembly in the state.
One of the motions called on the state Commissioner of Police and the Inspector General of police to arrest the self acclaimed Speaker of the parallel House of Assembly, Hon Ben Chuks Nwosu and five other suspended members for impersonation.
They also called on the traditional Rulers to listen to their case passionately and not take sides and after 15 minutes seating, the Majority Leader, Hon Humphrey Nsofor raised the motion for adjournment and supported by Hon Ben Obidigbo.
