WICHITA, Kan. - The cold December weather can only mean one thing: It's time for you to go out and sing Christmas songs to your neighbors.
Call a few of your closest - or most gullible - friends and talk them into joining you.
But before you head out, start warming up some apple cider. That way when you get back from startling your neighbors with "Silent Night," the heat of the cider will stave off hypothermia and ease the pain of frostbite.
Also, you might want to take your jolly self to your computer and print out the words to the carols so your group won't have to struggle with lyrics on top of trying to stay in tune.
If you Google "Christmas carols," you'll find a number of sites that can help. One of my favorites is . The site has a broad list of songs and extensive information about hymns, carols and the Christmas season.
Holy hip-hop - Chuck Shepherd of newsoftheweird.com reports that a New York City Episcopal priest, Timothy Holder (known as "Poppa T"), recently released a new CD. Poppa T's HipHopEMass and "Hip Hop Prayer Book" have turned south Bronx youth into parishioners in the last two years.
His new CD features Bible stories in street language. One example is Psalm 23: "The Lord is all that/ I need for nuthin'/ he 'lows me to chill."
The album is titled "And the Word Was Hip Hop: HipHopEMass," and is available at .
Quoteworthy - "I think you'd be correct in describing me as a seeker. But it's interesting how much religion - imagery, symbolism, or exploration - finds its way into my lyrics. I rarely start out with such intent, but God keeps finding his way into my songs.
