Happy Birthday To Thou who hath be Grimmith since the dawn of man. Thanketh thee who rideth upon the Chariot of Olde Stonehands to arriveth at the grimmest celebration on the Day of Satur.

Seriously now, happy bday and thanks again for coming the other night.

See you around soon - Orfogoth The Holey

The Orf myspace messaged me that. He should like come out with like Power Metal Hallmark Card line it would be awesome. I still can't stop laughing for some reason!

Oh and I guess as of lately Dana has been going by Old Stonehands I never remember to ask him why when I talk to him oh well.

Oh and I could go on a rant about this allot more than I am but I'll save it for drunk conversation if people are cutious and want to watch me get angry but I decided I hate rockabilly. No not really I love it rockabilly that actually Is authentic as in the Loud FAST and Rebellious teenage greaser punk of the 50's as Crybaby said in the end of the movie (actually I don't remmeber exactly what he said) but it was something along the lines of something Loud and Colored yes it's true almost all the really great rockabilly songs were written by a Black Guy who was notorious prolific and didn't get nearly the credit he deserved, Otis Blackwell (google him or look him up, you'll learn more and I save space but between him and chuck berry he really did write sew many of the hits).

But MR. Blackwell is DEAD not to mention that this music was all about the beat and energizing, exciting for young people and was known to get banned ALLOT.

Anyway I know Rockabilly can't do that anymore and it's not really offensive and rebellious as it was but listening to allot of the old stuff is still fun and the songs are really great and it's a way of thinking back in time and just being able to enjoy the spirit of rock and roll.

Which brings me to new rockabilly! (not Psychobilly which is a little more what old rockabilly but I'm not gonna get into times and places for that.

What I'm talking about is new rockabilly.

Not only will I just outright say it's mostly boring and not that memorable. But It's crooning bullshit that tends to not want to be raw and it's pretty harmless shit, I'm saying this as when I was talking about the Rockabilly show at Charlie's Kitchen and how fucking bored I was the whole time. I feel that way allot when bands try to pull new rockabilly songs out of their ass.

I don't feel that way toward Jason James who plays the old stuff and does a fun job with it, and whenever the preacher does it it's awesome because he plays it with the passion and tends to get very excited and worked up over the old rock songs and is able to talk about the importance that music has to him (as well he says he loves stuff after 1959 he just dosn't play it really unless he writes it, and it's not top priority to him to play his own stuff)

Anyway what I'm saying is these guys who play this jazzy rockabilly that they try calling "authentic" as with their overly neat and actually kinda toned down slicked hair and plad shirts bug me because it is so "square" and thats not what rockabilly was supposed to be about (I'm tempted to go into a more sociological geographical, racial explanation) but really I doubt this stuff would even be offensive in the 50's it's still too toned and pretty harmless bullshit that means nothing. I mean they take the same formulas and just sing about cars, their best girls and perhaps say "oh baby baby baby please..

..something something" and perhaps what else i don't even know?

old stuff was about yes girls and cars but it was also about anything else...

seriously get a start on the Loud fast and out of control box set absorb that and try listening to it next to all the modern rockabilly, no way does this square shit.

I want to name names in Boston but I don't try to pay much attention because really..

. It just sounds the same, and for what I gather if your too punky to rebellious or two whatever and play in a rockabilly band these days they'll just call you Psychobilly, it's divided cliques is what it is squares hang with squares punks with punks and punx with punx sure there is cross over but people tend to find those who they can relate to.

Anyway Spleen had it right when talking about Sasquatch and I didn't even think about it.

He talks so much about how rockabilly is dead and well his band is Sasquatch and the Sick-a-billy's" see I thought Sick-a-billy just meant like crazily good playing but Splean was probably more accurate when it was Sasquatch saying he was sick of 'billy and I couldn't agree more really.

and I know people shouldn't dogmatically love him "just because" and I shouldn't try to push it, but the majority of people who don't seem to like seeing or listening to Sasquatch play are the "squares" or the ones who like the more boring subdued rockabilly that threatens to put me to sleep
and the ones who seem to love him most arn't even psychobillys I know as much as punky kids or just people who like louder more obnoxious music that sounds good and has heart.

it could be me who says that my musical tastes are centered around punk and always have been (no Older punk wasn't the FIRST thing I listened to but I needed to be drawn toward it) It's not even the sun to Earth to me as it's the Gravitational pull in the center of earth.

Anything that doesn't have enough weight in punk just fly's off into the ozone layer or outer space to me and really I can say The Damned, The Cramps, Dead Boys, The Ramones, The Clash, Iggy, The X Ray Spex and even to an extent the Germs oh and lets not forget Motorhead All the music I listen to either influenced these bands (are these bands) or were an influence on them, Like Lemmy with Little Richard, who the sonics were so influenced (which sound like the missing link to Little Richard and Motorhead) and then onward Motorhead goes! The Cramps speech for themselves, Joe Strummer was so influenced by Bo Diddly and how many punks like the clash? How about Rancid ( I know their kinda corporate but I still have always loved them, for their sound for the way they communicate when they play and sound interesting.

) It can just go on and on forever.

And Rockabilly Influenced this in the 50's and I can probably appreciate what they were influenced by but I don't think any of these new rockabilly stuck back in time would influence what shaped punk and if it happened to..

.. well Music really was in sad sad state then.

(on but I do love Black Sabbath, I still think Paranoid is a punk song though, or it could have been, it sounds more punk to me than metal or whatever rock was playing at the time and really that happened to be there hit! NOT that it's my favorate song by them (I still hate to say I love their first album the best), But I guess you could make the Horror movie connection when linking sabbath because (and thrash, and well Motorhead) because Sabbath was influenced by horror allot and now thats kinda a festering obnoxious uncreative (unfortunately because I love horror) cliche in Punk music these days. (The Koffin Kats and Zombie Ghost Train are still fucking insanely awesome though!

) (do you really want me to yell more about this topic I'm sure I could, like I said earlier)

ARRRGGGHHH! and Here is the first picture of me at 23. (Why not, I havent seen allot of my LJ pals in quite awhile) (me at 23 still alittle unfocused)

And here are the Twilight Rangers at Charlie's Kitchen, While I thought they were boring as shit (along with every other band) I like the lighting at Charlies for pictures and visally I find this more interesting than anything they were actually plunking out on their instruments (I'm sure this music is for some (boring, old) people but not for me).

Pictures taken in the dark on the other hand!
