The sounds of classics such as White Christmas and The Christmas Song (Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire) are sprayed around homes, malls and offices like cheap cologne.
For some, the music is really delightful. For others, who cringe at the thought of listening to, say, Twisted Sister s Twisted Christmas (which isn t really so terrible), the season s jingles are almost unbearable.
But there s something we all can enjoy Christmas by Low.
The mopey, shoegazing band deconstructs traditional tunes such as Silent Night, Little Drummer Boy and Just Like Christmas. The music isn t overwrought with cheer, as the world isn t really that joyful.
Languid and soft, it offers peace in your living room whether you re a fan of the seasonal music or not.
Christmas is at least one present that won t have to be returned.
