Pete Doherty was today ordered to pay a fine of 750 to a BBC reporter he assaulted in March this year but could only offer 27p.
The Babyshambles front man pleaded guilty at Thames magistrates court to kicking the microphone out of the hand of Radio 1 Newsbeat reporter Trudi Barber.
As well as the fine to Ms Barber, Doherty was ordered to pay 250 in compensation and 200 costs.
But he told the court that he was unable to pay the fine as he only had 27p on him. He has now been given seven days to pay.
Ms Barber was said to have hurt her hand in the incident and the pain then spread to her shoulder, causing her to visit her GP.
Doherty had previously entered a plea of not guilty but changed his mind after watching video footage of the event.
During a police interview following the incident he had apologised, but described Ms Barber as a member of the "harassing scum of press".
Magistrate Helen Skinner said: "People in the public eye have a responsibility to behave and be a good role model to others.
"To refer to the press as 'scum' does no-one any favours. You were obviously courting publicity judging by your somewhat extravagant behaviour outside court."
Doherty is set to make another court appearance on December 4th when he will be sentenced for a number of drug offences.
