Say you want a resolution?
Let me explain.
Many of the better TV dramas nowadays are serials, or rather a series of self-contained episodes threaded into ongoing sagas against a larger backdrop. I am about to complain about the shortcomings of this formula, but let me admit, these are the only shows that interest me right now.
Alas, with all the shows I get into, I eventually come to a tipping point where I move on.
This does not mean the program has jumped the shark (except with The West Wing). To the contrary, the show often remains as compelling in the last episode I watched as it did in the first (except, again, in the case of The West Wing).
Usually I move on out of frustration.
Allow me to sum up the dilemma using a concrete example. How many times will Michael Chiklis escape the hangman, i.e.
the name special guest star actor, on The Shield?
One too many, for me. That's why I quit watching.
