No country in the world even with the best of technic and financial backing has the slightest chance when it comes to suicidal attempts. You cannot match a terror group executing terror methods with a souverign military force. Even US russia or China with the biggest military force would face problems if they were in this situation.
A classic example is Iraq, even combined major forces face this problem in Iraq today. The death toll in the aftermath of the Iraq war was much higher than during the war. The govt should keep its course and have solid targets, fight the false propaganda and keep the media informed.

The LTTE are once again up to there old tricks. Suicide bombing has always been a desperate alternative when nothing else works. Fighting a war against the countries force is too a big endeavour for the LTTE.
The immpression that the Tigers were a competetive armed force against the Sri Lankan Army has proven wrong. They are maximum able to defend forward defence lines in their territory. The provocation arising from their forward defence lines are political tactics that are opposed with minimum defence from the SLA.
An offensive stand from the SLA into the Tiger territory would be against the CFA and a provocation hampering the agended peace talks. The Sri Lankan forces are still acting on restraint and only taking defensive action. Its not anymore a big deal to send suicide squads to prove a point or earn international recognition.
The Tigers are isolating themselves and at the same time asking themselves why the international community are proscribing them. The whole situation needs a new strategy and approach. The two parties involved have lost confidence in the SLMM.
The SLMM has to be replaced with other contingents that involve India and Japan. The Norwegiens have done much but unfortunately reached nothing. The parties need a new CFA and a change of direction.
The dilemma is that a democratie changes its government, whereas a terrorist outfit doesnt. The other alternative is that this outfit should be crushed once and for all.
