One of the unfortunate realities of this job I've got is the necessity to use Starbucks for wiffee internet access.
Sadly, free internet cafes are not a dime a dozen everywhere else in the country like they are in Berkeley.
So here I sit on my perch looking out over Washington Street in old town Boston.
The trees on the sidewalk are lit up with xmas lights and people are walking briskly past. In a lot of cities, people walk briskly because they are on a mission to accomplish something.
That's probably true here as well.
But I also suspect its because its FORKING FREEZING here. Weather.com says its 35 degrees ( feels like 26 degrees ).
I've been sipping on my peppermint mocha for 10 minutes my hands are just now starting to regain feeling.
HORRIBLE MUSIC they play. The holiday stuff is not even the worst of it.
For some unspeakable reason (corporate mandate?) they also spin least the past 10-15 years.
For instance: Fast Car by Tracy Chapman.
Or how 'bout this one: Another Day in Paradise by Phil Collins. Remember - these are the unplugged versions. I think the bongos made my frozen ears just start bleeding.
Sadly, I left the battery charger for my Canon Digital Rebel XT in Miami at the hotel. I found a place in Boston just across Tremont Street from Boston Commons that stocked them. $63 goshdarn dollars.
Jesus - now its the acoustic version of Time After Time. 12 string guitars and cellos. And of course bongos.
As I walked around old town, I recognized the Bean Town Pub from last year. When I did this concert tour last summer, Staind played for a crowd of 12,000 in the huge justice center plaza. Afterwards, I met up with some friends at the Bean Town.
Across the street from the bar is the Old Granary Burying Ground. Founded in 1660, its not even the oldest cemetery in Boston. Its the Revere and Sam Adams.
The former was named after a Beastie Boys song. The latter was named after the popular beer.
Plant went back on the road without Jones.
Bobby Plant is pudding. There's an entire symphony of bongos in this one.
After walking around the cemetery, freezing my ass off, I decided to freeze my ass off walking through Boston Commons.
There's an out door ice rink there, where lots of other people were freezing their collective ass off.
At one point I passed an outdoor bookseller in an alley, replete with wooden bookcases. It seemed very Boston (definitely NOT the band) for some reason.
my lovely wiff, since we had the wedding party dance to this at the I mightly impressed my co-workers for knowing you, and you having your picture taken with The Game. I have to admit there were a few "awedamnson"'s and "how you know him?"'s.
How long are you going to be in Boston?
I'm traveling to Boston for work tomorrow night, and will be there until Friday, surely freezing my ass off, as well.
