The wife of rocker Ozzy Osbourne says she s getting tired of her long-term struggle with weight and is willing to do what it takes to get back on track. Sharon Osbourne, 54, had surgery in 1999 to insert a gastric band but plans to remove the device that aided in her 125 pound weight loss.
Desperate times call for desperate measures, and Osbourne, who also acts as her husband s manager, has decided to rely solely on psychotherapy in hopes of achieving weight loss success.
The gastric band inserted during surgery is designed to limit the food intake of patients upon recovery, but Osbourne says she ditched the diet plan post-surgery and found herself 15 pounds heavier this past year.
I have to figure out why I do what I do to myself, she tells People magazine. I think I have some sort of self-destruction button.
Osbourne became publicly known when she and her husband allowed cameras into their family s bizarre and often unruly home while MTV filmed episodes of the hit reality series The Osbournes. She has also written a memoir, Sharon Osbourne Extreme.
