Phonem By Miller, Turkey's premiere alternative and electronic music event, will start this year with an extraordinary concert. Mogwai, one of the leading groups in the post-rock genre, will be playing live in Istanbul for the first time, at the Yeni Melek Performance Center on Saturday, Oct. 28.
The Scottish quartet was established in 1995 and has since gone on to develop its distinctive style of apocalyptic, yet deeply humanized, post-rock sound across eight albums, inspiring a generation of imitators. As usual, Phonem By Miller will also host a plethora of other international and local groups and DJs. The full lineup will be announced soon.
Sponsored by Miller and organized jointly by the Istanbul Foundation of Culture and Arts and Kod Music, the festival will run until Nov. 11. Over the last three years it has hosted many of today's prominent names on the alternative and electronic music scenes, such as The Notwist, Mouse On Mars, Amon Tobin, Four Tet, Carl Craig, Console, Lali Puna, Pan Sonic and many others.
