S. Newswire/ -- The Landon Symphonette set its 16th annual performance of the Messiah for Dec. 16 at 5 p.
m. at the Mondzac Performing Arts Center, 6101 Wilson Lane, Bethesda, Md. Music lovers across the Washington area are invited to enjoy one of the area's finest performances of this seasonal classic, with over 100 musicians and singers presenting Handel's Messiah.
The symphonette is conducted by Richard Weilenmann. The Messiah will feature Detra Battle, soprano; Madeleine Gray, mezzo soprano; Lonel Woods, tenor; and Bryan Jackson, baritone. Accompanying the symphonette will be The Washington Civic Opera Chorus, The St.
Bartholomew's Singers (Carole S. Wysocki, director), and The Landon Little Singers (Michael Wu, director).
Ticket prices are $25 for adults, $20 for seniors and free admission for students (under 16 years, free with accompanying adult paying the $20 rate and 16 and older, free with student ID).

The Landon Symphonette is made up of professional performers playing in an unrivaled mentoring relationship with Landon students and students from the Washington, D.
C., Baltimore and Northern Virginia area. Students from over 50 area schools have participated in this outstanding program, with 15-20 represented at any one concert.
All have achieved a certain level of competence. In sponsoring this concert series, Landon offers other students in the community the opportunity to join in this unique collaborative effort.
