Oct 25, 2006 10:25 am There is nothing that will stop a civil war in Iraq. The US is responsible for it and now amount of postering by the W administration will stop it. It was not the place of the US to go in and "take over" another country because we did not like their leader.

Saddam clearly was not a good man, but there are those that have the same thoughts over our President. It appears most of the "yes" votes are clear partisans who would support W no matter what. How many days, months, years has it been since W declared 'mission accomplished"?

Oct 25, 2006 10:23 am Ok, How does anyone reading this really know? Most likely everyone responding, including me, has no idea what it might take to accomplish this so we just don't know. The only thing that I know is that until the Iraqi people themselves decide to rat out the gangs etc.

it will never happen given any amount of time. Oct 25, 2006 10:22 am They'll do better than the South Vietnamese did in 73 but only so long as we keep throwing fistfuls of cash, supplies and weapons thier way. It's too bad Bush didn't declare War on Ignorance and throw a third of a trillion dollars into our educational system.

..but, well, wishful thinking is what it is.

..just that.

Oct 25, 2006 10:18 am Pull out of Iraq now and let those people deal with their own problems. Offer food and medications but nothing else. Get out NOW.

Oct 25, 2006 10:11 am We haven't been able to do it - why should they be any different? Bush has really boxed us in with no good choices. Oct 25, 2006 10:05 am Our Little spoiled dictator stepped in it and now can't get it off.

It hangs around his neck like and albatross. Oct 25, 2006 10:02 am RIIIGHHTTT!.

..They'll do as good a job as the ARVN (S.

Vietnamese) did in the mid 70's BUT,,,, there will eventually be an upside to it - WHAT, you say will that be ?? Why, there'll be a huge availability of a lot of surplus weapons and equipment the U.

S.supplied -and- IT'LL ONLY HAVE BEEN DROPPED ON THE GROUND ONCE. Oct 25, 2006 09:59 am Here Americans go again with their McWorld attitudes.

If what we want is not delivered in under three minutes, it's a complete failure. Look people, the restructuring of an entire nation is going to take time. It's not something that can be done in 18 months or even five years.

This kind of thing takes many, many years. Remember, women now have the fundamental right to vote in Iraq. People in general have the right to protest America being there.

Under Sadaam they had their tongues cut out and then their families were raped and killed. Patience is a virtue. Oct 25, 2006 09:36 am For the Diehard Republicans, a more pertinent question: How long will you maintain the illusion that the chaos in Iraq is all a put on by the American liberal media?

How long will you adhere to the lie that we have done something noble by invading and occupying a sovereign nation (Iraq)? And how long will you believe that our staying in Iraq is justified (and simply an issue of American politics)? As long as you maintain such beliefs, you embarass me (a fellow American).

You embarass yourselves. Oct 25, 2006 09:35 am I guess I am an optimist. But two things need to happen.

First, we must not turn American policy decisions over to the leftist surrender monkeys of the Democrat Party. And second, the Iraqi government must remove Muqtada Al Sadr (the most dangerous man in the world, in my opinion) from the political scene.
