..starts out sounding like Greek mythology what with the Minotaur and the open thread, but then a knight pops into the picture, and the language starts sounding medievalesque.
I won't Google, I'll just come back and see the answer when someone gets it.

Posted by: at October 21, 2006 10:35 AM Bowie is a fine businessman as he sold the rights to his songs in a bond issue netting him $65 million several years ago to fund his retirement plan. You will notice Bowie hasn't had a hit since then and is enjoing his business savvy somewhere where the tax man won't get him if the Dems win in November.

Posted by: at October 21, 2006 11:17 AM Posted by: at October 21, 2006 11:35 AM In the 19 Oct. "American Mourning" thread, we discussed a book by the same title that juxtaposed the reactions of the parents of two buddies, soldiers who were killed in Iraq. Judging by the two book reviews linked in the thread, the book portrays Casey Sheehan's mom, Cindy, as a hateful, publicity-loving tool of the anti-Bush left, while Justin Johnson's father Joe, himself a military veteran, quietly and humbly enlists in the National Guard and volunteers for combat operations in Iraq in hopes of being able to "kill some of the terrorists who murdered his boy.
" One of the book's messages definitely seems to be: Cindy's cause = REPUGNANT; Joe's cause = VIRTUOUS.
During the discussion fran froelich opined, "Sounds like the Johnsons and Sheehans were two sides of the extremist coin." I replied:
Indeed. And when portraying two extremes, it's easy to demonize the extreme with which you disagree, as Moy and Morgan seem to have done.
If they had written a book on Pat Tillman, I wonder how they would have portrayed him?
As a patriotic, brave and conservative volunteer who wouldn't dream of questioning his Commander in Chief's policies in Iraq -- or in the swooning words of Ann Coulter, "Pure and verile as only an American male can be"?
Or as a leftist fan of Noam Chomsky who encouraged his fellow soldiers to vote for Kerry in 2004 and openly referred to the invasion of Iraq as "so f---ing illegal"?
What if he was really a little of both: A patriotic, brave volunteer and a fan of Noam Chomsky who supported Kerry against Bush because of the "f---ing illegal" Iraq war? Pat Tillman's brother, Kevin, has written in which the recently-discharged Army Ranger breaks his silence re.the Bush administration and its elective war in Iraq. As you may know, Kevin was also a professional athlete who volunteered for the Army and he was in the same unit as his older brother Pat.
Hmm.Here'e another patriot who, like his brother, doesn't fit neatly into Arbustius Minimus' false dichotomy, "Either your for us, or your for the terrorists.
And it is for that very reasons that I don't expect authorettes Moy and Morgan to do a story anytime soon on the Tillman family, what they think about our presence in Iraq, and how they're dealing with the loss of a beloved son and brother.

I did two years of a music performance degree and then swapped to composition for three years, then did a post-grad in film music. Posted by: at October 21, 2006 01:07 PM Economic Realities, Oddities and Predictions in Llamadom this week:
When Clinton was President and the economy was based on the virtual dot com bubble, the left claimed Clinton was the greatest Economic Guru of all time.Yet, when the economy today has recovered from the dot com bubble bursting recession and has been humming along at low inflation rates, low interest rates, low unemployment rates, lower tax rates, sustainable moderate growth, decent corporate profits, falling deficits, rising real income growth that beats the Clinton years on all fronts, the left calls Bush an Economic Satan and the economic sky is somehow falling like never before.
This is a sign of fiscal insanity and the reason you should bever trust your economic fate to lefties - not ever. It also points to Llamadom economic predictions should the left do well in the coming elections.
Llamas never pay attention to what lefties say, for good historic and personal reasons, but we do watch very closly what lefties do based on their failed ideology. So it pays well to know what the left's ideology really is based on history.
The days of JFK, some 45 years ago, cutting taxes and pledging to the world that America will pay any price in blood and treasure to help the oppessed of the world become free to enjoy democratically inspired liberty, are long gone.JFK would be a John McCain Republican today. The party of the left is now controlled by the ever moving to farther left of Pelosi, Rangle, Kerry, Murtha and Clinton (the Hillary brand even though Willy is a twin).
These new lefties, unlike JFK, have serious hate for business and the rich exemplified by business owers of large, medium and small businesses. They have never voted for a tax cut for anyone rich or poor - not ever - even though they claim they will only take away the Bush tax cuts for the rich and give them to the middle class. History is betting against that from ever happening despite their vigorous claims otherwise. They simply cannot help themselves, have no shame and can never be satisfied.
Take it to the bank. If the lkeft comes to power, all taxes will go up and up some more while the econimoc prosperity and general welfare for all will down and down further.
What history tell us is that they will raise taxes of companies and all Americans alike claiming that it is required to pay down the shrinking deficit or some other such nonsense that will easily fool the weak minded.Actually, they need the wealth sucked from the businesses and rich they hate so much to redistribute it with additional government spending on those they need to keep them in power.
Yes, the left's plan is to take from those that create jobs, pay wages, pay for healthcare, vacations, education, retirement, food, housing and the happiness the rest of non business owners enjoy. It is the rich business owners who employ the rest with jobs that allow others, through nthers through their generosity to pursue happiness in the greatest of all countries ever devise by man - America. It has always been so by the way. The money confiscated will be spent on those that do none of the above - those that create nothing contribiuting to the general welfare of all.
You will notice that the left will claim that only the rich are benefiting in today's economic prosperity and the general welfare of the rest of the all is nowhere to be found.Pay no attention to their non fact based retoric, as usual, because the fact is those that create the economic security and opportunity to pursue happiness for the rest has always been the responsibility, through generosity, of the rich and wealthy business owners. It is no wonder that gerosity is the greatest of all character attributes to have and hold dear. Churchill was wrong after the Battle of Brittian when he said that never have so many owed so much to so few.
It has always been so.
Posted by: at October 21, 2006 01:10 PM It is no oddity that Christ personified generosity and His example did not go unnoticed by those that make life and the general welfare of all in America truly remarkable. No it wasn't the poor, the underachieving, a socialist goverment, the uneducated, the unemployed, the un-Godly, the un-generous or the ideology of the left that made America the wonder of the world. It was something else. There is no wonder what it was. It was by the Grace of God and the generosity of the rich business owning few.
The goal of the left is to make sure that those who are truly resposible for the economic prosperity of everyone else, are punished for their generosity and incentivized to be less generous in the future. Yes, no good deed will ever go unpunished by the left and it will be the general welfare of all that suffers - as usual.
So vote wisely, with generosity and the hope to be truly rich in the future in mind.Do not forget what all llamas know, that your financial and physical security can never be trusted to those blinded by their un-Godly, socialist ideology focused on punishing those responsible for the general welfare of all.
Yes, it doesn't get better than this but it can get much worse. Stay home on election day and you will see what llamas know all too well.Where would you be with a welfare or unemployment check instead of a pay check for a job well done? See how easy it is?
Yes, I have been a business owner, not always successfully, nearly my whole life.I know of no law that says I have to employ you though. But, I also know that if I don't, there are few others who will hire you and we all will suffer in the end as a result.
I also suspect God made me generously responsible and thankfully a llama in the first place through Christ's fine example of leadership and generosity. He saved me from my younger, way more liberal nature of lazy self indulgence. He can save you too.

Posted by: at October 21, 2006 04:33 PM COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado, September 28, 2006 (LifeSiteNews.com) - A family displaying signs opposing homosexuality on their front lawn have been the target of accelerating harassment by homosexual activists, culminating in a Klu Klux Klan type of blazing fire started in their front yard in the middle of the night, Focus on the Family?s Citizen Link reported yesterday.
Christina Sewall woke up about 2 a.m. in her Colorado Springs home to discover a large bonfire on her front lawn, started by a man caught clearly on a video camera set up in the window of the home. The police have called it a hate crime, the latest in a series of increasing threats and vandalism since the Sewalls first set up the innocuous images as part of an ad campaign by Focus on the Family Action.
The simple ads show a dog silhouette with the caption ?woof? and the web address No-Moo-lies.com--the ads are intended to counter an ad campaign to raise support for homosexual domestic partnerships on the November ballot, according to Citizen Link, which show a dog with the caption ?moo,? intended to represent the ?
difference? of homosexuality.
A note left after the first pair of signs was taken overnight read, in part:
?This sign is a symbol of hatred?YOU ARE NO BETTER THAN A TERRORIST BECAUSE YOU DISPLAYED THAT SIGN!
?The purpose of this document is to inform not you, but all who share your anti-gay or any other discriminatory beliefs, your world is about to change?SO TAKE WARNING! Your life, your government and the world as you know it is about to change.
YOU ARE EITHER WITH US OR AGAINST US!?
?How is this being tolerant. They set our lawn on fire??
Sewall said. ?We?
re not preaching hate, but they are the ones doing the violence.?
The Sewalls have responded to each act of vandalism by replacing the signs in front of their house, but say the risk is distressing.
?We haven?t been resting very well since it started. As adults, we can make the decision and say we think standing up for what we believe in is worth the risk. But we also have to take into consideration that we are taking that risk for kids who can?t decide.
?
Earlier in the campaign against them, Christina Sewall told Citizen Link, ?The reason we continue [to put out signs]--we have the right to place signs in our yard? And we?re not going to give it up because some people don?t agree with what we?
re saying. We aren?t telling them they can?
t put things in their yard.?
Now, after the fire, she is still committed to resisting the intimidation, but it is difficult, she said.
?There is some fear and some concern there. But, it also makes me want to stand up all the more, because we are not the ones preaching intolerance.
Posted by: Michael Servetus at October 21, 2006 07:08 PM MS: "There is some fear and some concern there. But, it also makes me want to stand up all the more, because we are not the ones preaching intolerance".
Yes you are.Whether somebody else has sex with a watermelon, a goat, a girlfriend, or a person of the same sex, it does not affect you. You have lost nothing and remain in complete control of your life. Exactly the same is true for gay marriage.
Yet you will not tolerate any of those activities, and generally are eager to have the State seize and punish the offender, who has done nothing to you whatsoever. That actually goes well beyond intolerance into the range of theocracy.
Posted by: arcadia at October 21, 2006 08:23 PM Baloney, arcadia. The marriage amendments say nothing at all about such charming matters as "sex with a watermelon, a goat, a girlfriend, or a person of the same sex." Go for it.
Posted by: at October 21, 2006 08:36 PM Hey Virginia, you play the harp? What a beautiful instrument. We had a solo harpist at our wedding -- that was the only music we had. Also, we were supposed to have an outdoor wedding where they would release a flock of white doves when we kissed.
But it rained that day (only day it rained in San Diego that year!), so they brought the doves inside and put them in these tall ornate cages near the altar. So in our wedding video, you hear the harp and the cooing of doves.
Very romantic...
:-)
Posted by: at October 21, 2006 08:46 PM arcacida; If I see someone having sex with a watermelon, it would definitely affect me.
I would never again be able to eat watermelon.
Posted by: at October 21, 2006 09:25 PM Having something remotely like the blessed union of a man and a woman with a watermelom would be an improvement far above what you currently desire.
Posted by: m.servetus at October 21, 2006 11:30 PM This insane ,insatiable pleasure in lewdness and shameful things certainly does affect us all and we shouldn't tolerate this pathological push for such worthless meaningless things. What is the meaning of this sodomic obsession?and the other disordered behaviors of such people. Tell me what improvement and blessing do they and this specific slavery bring to society as a whole? None whatsoever, but their perversion spreads like virus inot hearts and minds of more decent and Christian people.
These unchristian behaviors from these unchristian people groups is a shame to our country and the major cities where it is slavishly practiced.
Posted by: m.servetus at October 21, 2006 11:45 PM Christians are more of a blight on this country than any other group you condemn.
Your self-centered sanctimonious attitude does not make you god.
The sexual preversions of a great number of married men and women are anything but blessed.
What do you bring to society but hatred, discord and violent thoughts.
Is christianity a religion of peace? NO, read any of m.servetus's comments.
Posted by: at October 22, 2006 02:15 AM Well, Life Site news and FOF aren't exactly credible news sources in anything that has to do with gays, both have spread most vicious lies for years so the Sewall story is most likely a lie too.
But on a more serious note: I was planning to visit US next year to meet my old workmates and friends in different parts of US. Yesterday I decided to cancel my trip. Why?
I am not a US citizen. One of my friends I was planning to visit is a muslim. After approval of "Military Commissions Act" I have decided that I can't visit her because I realized that just visiting a muslim might end up having me incarcerated indefinitely and tortured. As non-citizen I would have no legal rights in US soil but I could be taken in custody and denied hearing indefinitely. She called me back and said that her sister who lives in Singapore has made similar decision.
USA has decided to give powrs of a despot to its President and thus effectively become a mirror image of the people it says it opposes. It has denied even basic human rights from people who are not citizens and knowing this administration even US own ctizens will be endangered.
Conservative christians are wailing about freedoms i.e. right to gay bashing and inciting violence against gays as ultimate religious right, but couln't care less if people are being detained without a shred of evidence, indefinitely and tortured by their government.
Posted by: Boris at October 22, 2006 03:03 AM That IS good news Boris. What a relief to know you've canceled your trip.
Posted by: Whew!!! at October 22, 2006 05:58 AM I should have learned that your kind would find that part amusing, after all, I am not a citizen, so why should my human rights have any value. Or anyone else's for that matter.
You have genuinely come like those you claim to fight against.
But the fact remains: any non US citizen who crosses your borders in not entitled to habeas corpus. You may consider something wotrhy of celebration. The fact that US is speedily losing even the pretense of being for freedom.
Posted by: Boris at October 22, 2006 06:42 AM The usa has never been a free country, that was only political advertizing. And never will be a free country.
Americans know this but can't bring themselves to admit this. They prefer to boast about something that doesn't exist. Much the same as most christians. They boast of their superior selves and their religion while along knowing they and their religion is a shame.
Good decision canceling your trip here.
Posted by: at October 22, 2006 09:50 AM Well, I finally got what Wee Willy was saying. The poor tasting watermellons I have been picking out lately make them hard to eat much less having sex with them. I am having a hard time sitting on sofas too. The thought of being bent over one is disturbing :-)
Arcadia,
Those who mo not support having sex with watermellons, goats, girlfriends or the same sex are not intolerant. They are just displaying a natural common sense and decency. It is odd how the left can define down any term to mean anything. Marriage is one of those terms.
It has always been defined as a union between a man and a woman and nothing else. Many would hate to see it defined down to a meaningless state - like gay and queer has been defined down from happy and odd to mean homosexual. Never mind :-)
Boris,
Your fear that keeps you from visiting your Muslem friend in the States should be tempered with the thought that only fear, pride and ego cause failure in all things. Also, even during wartime when additional security burdens are placed on us all, America remains the most free country on earth. Especially for gay men just seeking a good time with old friends.
I suggest meeting him in San Franciso, Boulder or Palm Beach though just to be safe. You are unlikely to run into any evil incarnate Christian homophobes there and you will be happier at the end of your trip no doubt.
Posted by: at October 22, 2006 09:56 AM While you yap about "freedom" the fact of the matter is that any non-citizen of US can be detained indefinitely without any chance of hearing for whatever reason. It has nothing to do with ego, it is just a plain fact.
My friends in US don't live in San Francisco or Plam Beach. they live in Texas, Oklahoma, Arizona, Oregon, all over the country. But you're right: it would be safer to stay in those areas.
I have had my fair share of encounters s with evil incarnate homophobe christianists during my life. I have no intentions to make any aqcuaintances with christians anymore.
Posted by: Boris at October 22, 2006 10:23 AM Hey Christophobes, Antichrists and Christ haters, there is no such thing as a Christian homophobe, that is a real silly term made up by the sexual deviants. But here is something, sodomic obsession, why don't you apologists for sodomy and other unmentionable embarassing acts tell us what is the virtue of sodomy and what is its purpose and contribution to society in itself?
Why don't you repent now and admit the error of your ways, a piece of a** is not worth going to hell over but I guess for disordered people it is a obsession you can't control, thats right you all admit you don't have free will and you are all slaves. I am a free man talking to slaves exhorting you to quit the hellfire club and join the people of God.The truth shall set you free from this most humiliating bondage that leads you to shame and wallowing in filth and feces and makes a upright person out of you. Blessed be the God who in power sets the captives free in Jesus' name.God is merciful and perhaps will accept your repentance and forgive your crimes.
Posted by: m.servetus at October 22, 2006 11:27 AM The supposed one redeeming profession of all deviants in America is , get ready, they don't kill anybody. Wow!So they can do whatever they want, ruin society and its virtue, they can be adulterers, sodomites, effeminate shames, ugly dykes, and whatever else but they don't kill anybody, yet. But Osama is evil because although he probably condemns adultery, fornication, pornagraphy, sodomic compulsive disorder, and all manner of other plagues and viruses he is willing to fight and kill people for it, so that erases any good he may will while the profession that the club of perverts do not kill yet(pink swastika)washes away all their corruption and wrongheadedness. But they do something even worse they kill the soul, mind, honor and truth, so that while they leave the body it is only a hollow corpse, for the wages of sin is death and they promote a deathstyle not a lifestyle.

Posted by: at October 22, 2006 01:51 PM That's the problem with christians. Not only are they a blight on america but they kill people, sexually abuse kids, take adualtery to new levels and rob and steal.
In short christians are just like the rest of the deviants in america.

Posted by: at October 22, 2006 05:23 PM Is that "love you" for Boris?Or maybe a Foley hello.
Posted by: at October 22, 2006 05:25 PM A christian is one who loves God with all his or her heart, who has been delivered from the deviant powers of darkness, who is a dear child of God, born -again, made meet to be a partaker of an inheritance of a heavenly sort, not what you wish to describe. Christians cannot abuse kids or anyone, nor steal, nor be immoral according to godly morality which is set by our Lord, not of course homosexual sodomic morality.
All transgressors and lying disobedient will be judged, no matter what they call themselves, wether christian, catholic, atheist, evangelical, secularist, communist etc. You cannot define as a Christian who wishes to call themselves one but one who the noble Bible defines, no one is at liberty to define for themselves what a Christian is, it is defined authoritatively in the noble scriptures.Thank You

Posted by: at October 22, 2006 07:17 PM I try to love my neighbors as myself and if I were in spiritual darkness, as I once was, I would want someone to testify to the truth as it is in and through Christ Jesus, the way unto the Supreme Divinity.Someone, rather several people did do that and I was set free and delivered from the power of the flesh and concupiscience by the divine energy, preached by the apostles and the Lord himself, so that I am a witness of its truth and power. Not by words alone but by the power of God.
Although I was in this state of ignorance I didn't hate those that testified to another way which they recommended to me as better and more excellent and as the message of Jesus Christ. But it wasn't so much through words that I was convinced as through power and experience when someone prayed for me with a divine efficacy.
Posted by: m.servetus at October 22, 2006 08:00 PM If you say I hate homosexuality your are right, I hate it as an enemy of truth, decency, order and mankind.Any assault upon truth , decency and order is to me egregious and effrontery.
