The New York Jets signed cornerback Hank Poteat and released safety Derrick Strait on Wednesday.
"It was a situation where we thought we could improve the team," Jets rookie head coach Eric Mangini said. "And I have got familiarity with Hank and he has got a lot of familiarity with the system.
"
Poteat had a pair of tackles in two games this season, his second with New England and sixth in the National Football League.
