William Thompson was confirmed Wednesday as chief executive officer of Skate Canada.
Thompson, from Kitchener, Ont., was appointed acting CEO in March.
"I am eager to accept the challenge of my new role as Skate Canada CEO," Thompson said in a statement.
"This is a tremendous opportunity and I am very excited to be a part of this organization."
Thompson, a former pairs skater and an Olympic level judge in singles and pairs, is leaving his job as a commercial/corporate lawyer to concentrate solely on his duties with Skate Canada.
