LILONGWE, Malawi The father of the Malawian boy that Madonna is trying to adopt said again today that he supports her plan. And a lawyer for the pop star says she and her husband did not break any laws.
Both attended a closed-door, 90-minute hearing on a human rights group's challenge to the adoption.
The judge has set another hearing for November 13th to allow lawyers for the Human Rights Consultative Committee to submit additional arguments on why the adoption process should be reviewed and why the committee should be a party.
The boy, 13-month-old David, is now living with Madonna and her family in London. His father says he agrees with the adoption and just wants the human rights activists to leave his son alone.
The chairman of the human rights committee says it's not trying to block the adoption but wants to make sure that Malawian laws were respected and that Madonna is a suitable mother.
