David Bowie lends voice for SpongeBob Squarepants

LONDON - Rock and pop legend David Bowie is to lend his voice to the immensely popular cartoon series SpongeBob SquarePants. Bowie will be the voice for a character called Lord Royal Highness in the children's TV series.
The episode featuring this character is a part of the sea bed-set series and will be aired next year.

Bowie, who has appeared in the BBC sitcom Extras and films like Labyrinth and Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence, was very excited to be a part of SpongeBob Squarepants.

SpongeBob SquarePants debuted on children's channel Nickelodeon in 1999 and has built up a huge fan base among children. The series has an almost cult following among adults as well.

Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears are among the most notable SpongeBob fans.
