Sir Paul McCartney has been visiting a psychiatrist to help him through his painful divorce from Heather Mills and her recent allegations.
Mills filed court papers on Wednesday alleging the former Beatle had pushed her into a bath while she was pregnant, pushed her over a coffee table and during one row poured wine over her head before allegedly stabbing her in the arm with a broken glass and has also been verbally abusive.
McCartney and has turned to a psychiatrist and his children, Stella, 35, Mary, 37 and James 29 for support.
In a statement released by McCartney's lawyers reads: "Since the breakdown of his marriage Sir Paul McCartney has maintained his silence in not commenting on the media stories believing that it was best for all concerned, particularly his children, for there to be some dignity in what is a private matter.
"Our client would very much like to respond in public and in detail to the allegations made recently against him by his wife and published in the press, but he recognizes, on advice, that the only correct forum for his response to the allegations made against him is in the current divorce proceedings.
"Our client will be defending these allegations vigorously and appropriately.
"
Geoff Baker, a close pal of McCartney, has stated "I would not believe her if she told me the sun set in the west, and I mean that.
"I would not believe this fabricating [bleep]. She wants her name in the paper and is only saying it for attention.
"
The couple has a 2-year-old daughter, named Beatrice.
