Clifford on Madonna
Tuesday, 17th October 2006, 12:49PR guru Max Clifford today urged Madonna to answer her critics in the growing adoption row over her one year old Malawian baby David Banda.
The 13 month old tot was whisked into the country this morning on the singer's private jet before being taken to his new home, a four storey town house in London's West End.
Today speaking outside the plush Georgian home in front of the world's media Mr Clifford said: "She knows that just because she is rich it doesn't mean that she should be able to adopt.
"She's been a star long enough to know that this would cause considerable controversy and that is not something that would bother her.
"But I would urge her to make a public statement to answer those who have criticised the adoption.
"She is just starting out on an 18 month trial and it's up to her and her husband Guy Ritchie to show that they are doing this for the right reasons and will provide young David with all the love and the care that he needs.
"He will certainly be better looked after here than he would have been had he remained in Malawi.
"We also have to recognise that any cash that she has donated to Malawi will go to benefit other children over there. There is no way that that can be seen as a bad thing.
