MALAWIAN rights groups won a court date to challenge Madonna's bid to adopt a 13-month-old boy as the toddler arrived at the star's London mansion amid a flurry of protests.

As David Banda adjusted to the palatial surroundings of the Queen of Pop's home, a coalition of 67 Malawian rights group was given permission to present its case in detail at the high court on Friday after petitioning a judge in the administrative capital Lilongwe.
ldquo;The court wants to hear our locus standi and why we should be appointed guardians of the child and act in his interest, rdquo; Justin Dzodzi, chairman of the Human Rights Consultative Committee umbrella grouping, said.


He said David's father, a 32-year-old illiterate poor farmer, and his relatives believed that the boy had been taken for ldquo;custody and not adoption rdquo;.
