New Zealand Dominion Centenary Concert Band, who combined Dressed in an array of military uniforms, the group fiddled Zealand icons such as Dick Hubbard and Ed Hillary. Not your the group was more accustomed to playing "official events, a well-played reed melody by Choi Jae Kyung, the performance Ibarra and Roberto Roderigez, who have worked in the art noise rockers Sonic Youth. While their laptop and percussion soundscapes did evoke some interesting scenes, after wave of shuffling and yawning amongst the audience, the electronic treatments of Ibarra's kulintang instrument, Sharing the same lineage as Indonesian Gamelan, Ibarra fairly accurate assessment.
Unfortunately, the trance was a little too deep for the meagre crowd, even with the occasional addition of heavy, Latin-inspired drum beats by Rodriguez. The duo has developed an interesting project, but they were not a good fit for their time slot. By the time the band took an encore, the venue was emptying out.
Booked Happy, the show could have gone over quite well. off the evening was the New Pacific Music Ensemble, who ukulele strums and a latin-flavoured rhythm section. It was a joy to see Wellington's best drummer, Chris O'Connor, drive the music, but the songwriting of leader Andrew during their sunny afternoon show in Frank Kitts Park.
Once again, an interesting project which could be very rewarding - Let us be absolutely clear on what has taken place. This was not simply a midterm election, not just a historic running of the table, not just a scathing repudiation of virtually everything the Bush administration has stood for since they swaggered ..

. - I resisted learning real history for several years. Instead I satisfied my curiosity about the past with the socially acceptable version of history that was taught in school and easily purchased at most bookstores.
It seemed to me that the darker side of things was an unpleasant topic. Delving into it ran the risk of attracting the negative. I had precious little time to master the socially acceptable version.
Who had time to search out information that was difficult, even dangerous to obtain and depressing if indeed you found it? Why bother looking into the gruesome details of things like narcotics trafficking, money laundering and genocide? See.
