Karen Bliss of recently conducted an interview with ROCK STAR SUPERNOVA vocalist Lukas Rossi and Rossi's publisher, president Mike McCarty of EMI Music Publishing Canada. A few excerpts from the chat follow: Rossi: "The coolest thing about this record is it wasn't meant to be a karaoke f***ing record." "It was awesome.
It was so refreshing to know there was a lot of room for creativity. I added melodies, lyrics, couple of chords here and there on different songs. Out of 11 songs, I wrote five, including 'Headspin'.
" On one of the album's songs, the sweeping ballad "Can't Bring Myself To Light This Fuse", complete with strings: "(It's) about wanting to end something, but lighting the fuse. You still want to keep it, with a girl, or anybody in your life. It kind of moved me.
I didn't even write the lyrics, but it was crazy cool, kind of reminded me about my life." McCarty: "What happened is when it looked like RISE ELECTRIC [Rossi's band] had either broken up or was teetering, that was at the time of the 'Rock Star' auditions and we (EMI Music Publishing Canada) had made the decision that we wanted as many of our unsigned people as possible to try out for all the TV shows. We didn't care if musicians didn't take them seriously.
To us, these shows are the new paradigm. "TV is a very powerful medium. You become famous on TV and then you make a record.
Too many musicians are resistant to it because they think it's cheesy. Look at Kelly Clarkson. She has completely gone beyond Idol.
It's going to be a footnote in her career. If Lukas has a career beyond SUPERNOVA, it's up to him. The door is open and it's up to him to step through it.
It's the same with all the winners of all these shows. "Unwittingly, everything Lukas has done his whole life has prepared him for this moment in the spotlight. I think he was born to be a rock star and I think he's absolutely the right person for it and I think it's a great opportunity for him.
The whole album was not finished and there was definitely opportunity for him to do a fair bit of writing on it." .I didn't watch the show, but I have a hard time believing any of the other finalists could've POSSIBLY been worse than this guy. Listening to audio clips and watching the videos of this dickhead is almost painful, it's so lame!

that's nothing but a Butch Walker tune with your voice on it instead of Butch's! Face it, if it wasn't for Butch Walker writing and producing this band, this whole piece of shit would smell a hell of a lot worse then it allready does! As for Gilby.

Nope.. But if Gilby is such a great producer, why bring in Butch Walker?
How come not let him produce and write? Maybe it's because Butch is one of the hottest producers in the music business right now? How many gold and platinum albums has Gilby produced?
I'll let you think about that one! Even if Gilby produced this abortion of a band, it would still reek to high heaven!
