All Headline News - Concert Review: BANG! Music Festival - November 13, 2006

Miami Beach, FL (AHN) - The weather in South Florida was absolutely perfect this weekend, low 70's, barely any clouds, wisps of wind along the ocean and bay. It was one of those weekends when you just knew it was perfect and people across the globe were jealous.
Not only was the weather enviable, but this weekend brought a collection of assorted bands and musicians to the city by the sea attending the BANG!

Music Festival. So music aficionados and revelers who missed out on being there were definitely hotter than those lucky enough to enjoy the sun and music all day and night Saturday at Bicentennial Park.
The festival in its second year brought the widest collection of musical genres to one location.

One stage had Atomic Tangerine, while another had Haiku, and at the same time the House stage had Miami favorite Ivano Belinni, and yet another had Edgar V getting set up at the Trance stage. There were 5 stages in total for guests to enjoy artists located across the 30 acre tropical waterfront landscape.
Amidst the ample stages were an equal number of VIP sections for select viewing of different stages, bottle service or just to get away from the crowds.

Some of the notable acts that drew the large audience to Bicentennial Park were Duran Duran, Tiesto, Gnarls Barkley, Modest Mouse, Common, Roger Sanchez and Cedric Gervais.
DJ extraordinaire Cedric Gervais who began performing to crowds at the age of 15, and who had his own spot on the lineup for late afternoon admitted that he was excited to see Duran Duran hit the stage.
Duran Duran who did just that.

.. and rocked the standing room only field recently made headlines when announcing the band had decided to part ways with guitarist Andy Taylor.

However, that didn't slow them down, the group continued rocking out their hits like "Rio " and "Girls on Film." They also dedicated their performance to people all over the world aimed at promoting peace.
Another group that had people streaming over to the House stage late Saturday night was Daft Punk.

The French duo performed wearing space helmets and inside an elaborate pyramid DJ booth that glittered with hot LCD lights that illuminated the crowd below. Behind them was a honeycomb backdrop of neon lights. The frenzy for their performance was due to the widely reported news that it would be the group's last performance.

However one of the most anticipated and ultimately disappointing performances was by Gnarls Barkley of "Crazy" fame. They kept the crowd waiting for well over an hour in the tightly timed lineup of over 50 musical acts. By the time singer/rapper Cee-Lo, DJ/producer Danger Mouse, and their 12 piece band came on - the largely miffed audience who at first grumbled, then chanted obscenities, eventually left and moved on to other performers who for the most part were punctual.

All in all BANG! was the perfect combination of a dance heavy ULTRA music festival combined with the Langerado music festival. Some people danced like they were in a club completely forgetting they were in an outdoor seaside arena, while others took advantage of the locale and brought blankets and slept to the harmonies around them.
