(RTTNews) - Pfizer Inc. ( | | | ), a developer of prescription medicines for humans and animals, on Tuesday morning, revealed its torcetrapib/atorvastatin clinical study related with the release of an American Heart Association abstract of a Phase 3 study, in patients with heterozygous familial hypercholesterolemia, HeFH. The company said the study showed the drug considerably raised, HDL, the good cholesterol by 56%, and further lowered LDL, the bad cholesterol by 27 % compared to patients taking atorvastatin alone.

The company stated that HeFH trial also showed patients taking torcetrapib/atorvastatin experienced an average rise of about 2 millimeters in systolic blood pressure, versus patients on atorvastatin alone. The company indicated that HeFH study in patients with an increased risk of heart disease, will be presented at the American Heart Association Annual Scientific Sessions on November 15. Dr.

The company stated that the next release of clinical trial results would take place in March at the American College of Cardiology meetings, when the results of three vascular imaging studies will be released.

The shares of PFE is currently trading down 0.58% at $26.62.
