London (ANTARA News) - The rock group Babyshambles has had to postpone the rest of its British tour to allow frontman Pete Doherty more time to recover from treatment for drug addiction, his record company said Saturday.
"Babyshambles have made the decision to postpone the remaining five dates of their current UK tour," a spokesman for EMI said as reported by AFP.
"It has become clear that Peter embarked on this arduous and high profile tour too soon after his discharge and still needs time to recover from his extensive rehab treatment," he said.

"Peter asks that he be given the time and space to continue with his excellent effort to recover," he added.
"The band apologizes to fans but hope that they will understand the importance of Peter being able to best continue his good progress in recovering from addiction," he said.
"The dates will be rearranged for as soon as possible and all tickets will remain valid.

"
Doherty, who last month was receiving drug rehabilitation treatment, has appeared in court a number of times this year on drug-related charges.
EMI's announcement comes after the singer reportedly had a "bust-up" with his supermodel girlfriend Kate Moss after a Babyshambles gig in London.
The couple were later pictured driving away together from her home but by the evening the band's concert in Liverpool had been canceled.

Concerts for Nottingham, Manchester and Newcastle have also been postponed.
