(RTTNews) - Wellington shares settled the fourth trading session of the week slightly above the flat line on the strength of major blue chips, despite a drop in index giant Telecom. The weighted NZX 50 index added 4.76 points or 0.

12% to settle at an all time high of 3,823.01, after remaining in a range of 3810.67 to 3830.

24. A turnover of NZ$180 million was generated in the day's trade. Among the top stocks, Telecom plunged more than 2%, whereas Contact Energy and Fletcher Building gained over a percent each.

Nuplex and energy issues TrustPower and Vector climbed more than 1% each. The New Zealand Refining Company jumped over 5%, Calan Healthcare added almost 4% and Air New Zealand gained about 3.5%.

Retailer Hallenstein Glasson increased nearly a percent, while the shares of Steel Tube and Sky City rose 0.6% and 0.4% respectively.

On the other hand, The Warehouse Group declined 1%. Pumpkin Patch and Michael Hill dropped around half a percent each.
