All About My Movies.: November Blues, aka Mid Week Hot and Nots

Being the moody shit that I am, I didn t do this last week because I was too annoyed at stuff. Well, it s a weak later, and I m even more annoyed, but you know how writing is meant to be therapeutic, so I may as well try cheering myself up

Hot
01. .

I know, I know, it s hardly cool, but I just love it. I ve just finished making my first scarf in two years, and although I ve dropped a few loops and the scarf itself is too short, I m still pretty proud of my work. I think I may knit a few more, it s a very calming thing to do, although sadly highly time consuming.

02. Films with purdy cinematography. Some movies I can just sit there, staring at the camerawork and colours.

I lurve simple pleasures in life like that.
03. I watched Maria Full of Grace with my 8-year-old brother, and it proved quite a rewarding experience.

He was sooo sweet, and every time the character of Maria approached any danger, he got so scared! So sweet! Anyway, the film itself was excellent, and Sandino Moreno truly deserved her Oscar nomination.

I love obscure Oscar nods.
04. .

Sorry, I know I shouldn t because I m a Pool fan, but this man is insanely hot! He s so arrogant and has that edge to him, which I like a lot. And he was so damn fine in his goal celebration when Drogba scored against Barcelona last Tuesday.

So hot! Quite the babe indeed, and the second main reason I stay to watch the post-match interviews on Match of the Day.
05.

Playing ponticelli in the guitar. Trust me, it sounds much nicer than playing near the bridge on the violin.
06.

Philip Glass s score to The Hours. One of the few pieces of music that can reduce me to tears every time I hear it because of the nostalgia it brings, it highlights all the beauty of the book and the film, and features some of the most haunting piano solos I ve heard in my life.
07.

Basketball. So, the transition from squash to basketball has been made, and it s actually a really fun sport! I m uber-competitive, and we played 2 by 2 basketball last week, and our team rocked!

Coolness. Now I just need to work on my shooting accuracy, and try not to dislocate my thumb every time I get the ball..

.
08. Deal Or No Deal.

This show starts as soon as I get home, and I never get tired of watching someone reject a deal of 18,000 from the banker, only to go on to open all the boxes with the highest sums of money in, and then leave with like a fiver. Priceless. I also quite like that gameshow on Channel 4, Unanimous.

The people there are so backstabbing, two-faced and amoral. Like normal people, really.
09.

Woolly jumpers. Occasionally, my mother can actually get it right when buying me clothes, and on Monday, she gave me the most beautiful, black woolly jumper ever, perfect for keeping me warm, and also hiding my figure. And because it s dark, it s easy to match earrings and necklaces with it!

Yayness. And boy, oh boy, Dangly earrings. It s been somewhat of an obsession of mine since like year 10, but I cannot get enough of them!

They re particularly stunning to wear when I have my hair down, and can totally elevate a look. Earrings are my key way of making up for not wearing make-up; I have lots of one and none of the other.
10.

The trailer for The Holiday. It looks like a really sweet, cute, Christmassy film that will truly get me feeling all schmaltzy. Go Kate, Cameron, Jude and Jack!

Not
01. Er, like, school. In every single subject except Further Pure Maths.

I totally Zummered the simulation question in Decision Maths, I got 53% for the Physics test on Forces, I only managed a freaking B for my homework on Inflation. I mean, I know this is all my fault because I chose my subjects and the workload, and in the long run it ll pay off, but at this moment in time, I just wanna have fun, yet if I do, I end up regretting it because I know I could be working. I m weird like that.

And it s Parent s Evening next Tuesday. I am so scared.
02.

I cut Samson s hair, I feel guilty.
03. Stephen King s latest offering, .

Oh My God. If you think Marina Hyde is a bad, piece o shit writer, you should read this book. For a man who writes horror so well, he should continue writing horror and never do something like Lissy s Story ever again in his life.

I couldn t read a single paragraph in this pretentious codswallop without bursting into fits of giggles, and the most unintentionally hilarious line is the one where he falls. Oh. My.

God!! If anyone wants the perfect example of how NOT to write, check this book out of the library.

If you want to indulge into a wee bit o shadenfreude, read this book. For all other people who like their novels to be good, comprehensible, and in the least bit readable, stay away from this. Mr.

King, I m very ashamed of you.
04. This stupid bitch teacher from my orchestra publicly mortified me on Saturday.

She basically said, Emma, don t stare into space when the cellos are practising. You could be writing in the fingering that you forgot to do. That might not sound that bad, but trust me, it was.

It was so embarrassing, and basically, I just wanted to kill that tramp. Who the frick does she think she is? It s people like her who put me off the violin.

05. Manchester United. I would actually rather have Chelsea top the Premiership than them!

I do not, I repeat, do not, like this team! Why, oh, why, are they topping the Premiership? No!

!! Anyway, they lost in the Carling Cup and are Nicey.

06. Those new Orange adverts with those weird white things that are joined. You know the ads I m talking about?

Well, they re disturbing.
07. The fact that our form our being forced to give the Remembrance Day assembly.

You would think, that with 11th November falling on a Saturday this year, we poor souls would be let off the yearly snoreathon that consists of a) standing up to sing crappy hymns, b) listening to Dulce et decorum est for the 9th billion time, and c) being silent for 1 minute as we pretend to think about those that have died in the First World War, when you re really re-living what happened in last night s Lost. But no, oh no, and it s even worse this year, because it s MY form that have to do the honours and cause everyone else s sleep! I mean, what s the point in this Remembrance Day anyway?

To honour those who died? How exactly are they meant to feel honoured, they re dead. I feel that the real reason we re given a remembrance day is for the English government to quietly, subconsciously tell us that basically, England is better than Germany because we beat them in the war, when really, England is highly resentful of Germany because their economy is orgasmically great (Doing Economics for AS has the odd perk).

Which is why I ll be delivering the Thought of the Day, and I think I ll say, Remember, guys. England got knocked out of the World Cup in the quarter finals. Germany came third.

Course, I may get expelled if I do that, so I could just settle for reading a crappy quote about how beneficial peace is, but say it in the most mocking way possible, with a sarcastic smirk on my face as I do so. I m so humane.
08.

Abi Clancy. Slut.
09.

Alex Curran. Whore.
10.

I have a lecture next week on Thursday on Hamlet. Not bad in itself, but, as it s in school time, I have to do the degrading task of going round to all the teachers I have on Thursday and get their permission for me to miss their lessons, which I think totally defeats the purpose of this so-called independence we re meant to have as Sixth Formers. Plus, I just know that the Head of Sixth, my MacroEconomics teacher, (lesbian ho with a penchant for silver jewellery and missing her g s when speaking), will make some snide remark at me.

Bitch.

What's rocking your world, then?

Me, on Duke of Edinburgh.

I m taking Silver this year, which is a bit of a joke, as I couldn t even manage Bronze. The experience damn near killed me.

I think we had to trek for 24km, and it wasn t fun. By the end of it, all I wanted to do was sleep.
